Biography

Johann was born about 1680, probably in Mönsheim, Leonberg, Duchy of Württemberg, Holy Roman Empire, where he was a long time resident. In most records his surname is represented as Müller, but in two records, his name is rendered as Miller owing to the similarity of the phonemes /ü/ and /i/. His preferred first name was "Jacob", and appears in records under that name.^[1] In two records, "Hanß" is replaced by the more formal "Johann".^[2]

Hanß Jacob Müller - Anna Catharina Schöffler Marriage Record

On 2 November 1706, Jacob Müller married Catharina in the village of Mönsheim.^[3]

Jacob Müller (Miller) and Anna Catharina were the parents of:^[4]

2. Hanß Jacob Jr, b. 24 Aug 1709^[6]
3. Anna Maria, b. 10 May 1713 - 8 July 1789^[7]
4. Anna Elisabeth, b. 17 Nov 1715^[8]
5. Maria Sara Müller, b. 23 Oct 1718^[9] Evidently died in childhood before March 1725.
6. Maria Sara Müller, b. 2 March 1725^[10]

His last child and his first grandchild were born in 1725, so it seems likely that he died shortly thereafter.

She also apparently did not have "Anna" as part of her name. She gave birth to a son Hanß Jacob Müller Jr in 1691, which is far too late to allow him to be identified with our Jacob who married in 1706.
