Biography

Evelyn was born at Phillips, Maine in 1913, the daughter of Llewellyn Fairbanks and Vesta Beedy.

The 1920 US census for Phillips, Maine lists residents of a farm located on the Rangeley Road as Llewlyn [sic] C Fairbanks (35), a farmer, wife Vesta E (31), daughter Evelyn M (6), Mervin L (4), and father-in-law Elbridge S Beedy (78). He owns his farm.

The 1930 US census for Dixfield, Maine lists residents of a home located on Dix Avenue as Llewellyn E [sic] Fairbank [sic] (44), a lumber contractor, wife Vesta E (41), employed at a clothespin mill, daughter Evelyn M (17), employed at a clothespin mill, son Mervin (14), and boarder Prosper Gallant, born in Canada, employed as a laborer of odd jobs. The home, valued at $4000 is owned.

She married twice:

• Perry Stuart Matthews married 1 Aug 1936 at Portsmouth, New Hampshire.
• Cecil Currie married 27 Mar 1948 in Maine.
