Biography

Irene was born about 1914 in Alberta, Canada, daughter of Charles Nutt and Mary Elizabeth (Kingdon) Nutt. ^[1]

In 1916, her family lived at 1229 - 21st Avenue NW, Calgary, Alberta. Charles worked as a Foreman in the City Paving Department. ^[1]

Irene's father died when she was about four years of age. Her mother remarried two years later. ^{[2] [3]}

At the time of the 1921 Census, Irene and her family were residing at 207 - 5th Avenue NE, Calgary. ^[4]

By 1926, Irene had been placed in the Provincial Training School, Red Deer, Alberta, along with her brother George Edward. ^[5] This institution opened in 1923 to care for children and adults with developmental disabilities. ^{[6] [7]}

Irene died on 15 Jul 1930 in Red Deer at the age of about 16. ^[8]
