Biography

Philip Cocker was born about 1865 at Stoney Middleton in Derbyshire

In 1871 hew was six and living with his sister Mary Cocker aged 4 at the home of his Grandfather Francis Hill at Stoney Middleton and also together with a cousin Herbert Maddocks aged 5 another grandson of Francis Hill.

By 1881 as Phillip H. Cocker he was aged 16 and was living and working as a Farm Servant for John Outram a Farmer and his extended family.

When he was aged 23 and living in Attercliffe he married Martha Sawtett, aged 26 and daughter of Benjamin Wilson.

In 1891 he was aged 26 and working as a "Coke Washer" and they were living with her son John ( surname Cocker) and his sister in law Sarah Wilson at Petre Street, Brightside Bierlow, Sheffield, Yorkshire

In 1901 at age 37 he is as Labourer in a steel works and he and his wife who is now named Mary are living with an Aunt Sarah Wilson who was single aged 70 and two Boarders at number 96 in Petre Street as shown above.

He died at the age of 54 during the third quarter of 1919 at Sheffield.
