Ezequiel López Fernandez was born in Puerto Rico.

Ezequiel López Fernández was born at Santa Isabel, Puerto Rico, on the 10th of April in either 1877 or 1879, the son of Spaniard Joaquin López & Puerto Rican Josefa Fernández.[1][2][3]

Ezequiel would have been about twenty years old when the U.S. declared war against Spain (1898).[4] Three months later American troops occupied the city of Ponce, fighting for nineteen days before hostilies were halted.[4][5] The Treaty of Paris was signed in December of 1898 formally ending the war, though the fighting had stopped months before.[4][5]

Ezequiel first married, on 25 May 1901, Florencia Rivera Leon, a daughter of Teodoro & Feliciana, with whom he had at least five children prior to her death in 1931.[6]

Ezequiel married second Lucia Negrón Torres, who died in Santa Isabel in 1937.[7][8] There were no children from that marriage.[8]

Ezequiel married third Cristina Ginorio Gonzalez.[8] She was the widow of Manuel Maldonado, who died in 1937.[8] They had two children while together.[8] The marriage ceremony took place on the 3rd of February 1940, with Hipolita Ginorio and Luis Moreno as witnesses.[8]

Ezequiel López Fernández died in Ponce, Puerto Rico from cardiac dilation related to hypertension on 28 May 1946.[3]
