Biography
Dempsey was born in 1815. He passed away in 1880. See the attached images which are a biographical sketch of Dempsey Weaver which was included in the History of Nashville, by H. W. Crew, 1890
He married at least twice:
- Mary Delilah Johnson Weaver, 1823–1842 (m. 16 Apr 1839, Davidson Co., TN)
- Frances Louise King Weaver, 1823–1889 (m. 15 May 1844, Davidson Co., TN)
The known children of Dempsey are:
- Frances Weaver Woolwine, 1838–1911
- James D. Weaver, 1842–1842
- Walker Weaver, 1846–1847
- Mary Delilah Weaver Harris, 1848–1910
- Thomas Shadrach Weaver, 1850–1911
- Willie D. Weaver, 1858–1860
Dempsey's 1879 will mentioned daughters, Fannie Woolwine and Mary Harris as well as the names of their husbands. The will also mentions son, Thomas S. Weaver. One more interesting mention is that of Dempsey's "brother in law, Rev. L. C. Bryan and his wife Sally". This probably means Sally was a sister of one of Dempsey's wives.
DEATH NOTICES FROM THE CHRISTIAN ADVOCATE, NASHVILLE, TENNESSEE 1880-1882 (Page 5) January 21, 1880 DEMPSEY WEAVER, vice-president and one of the founders of Third National Bank of Nashville, Tenn.; died February 3, 1880 at Nassau, Bahama Islands; treasurer of Vanderbilt University; one of senior trustees of Arlington Methodist Episcopal Church, South. [I am not sure if the next sentence came from the article or not] Dempsey was the son of Shadrach & Lucy Green Weaver.
