Biography

Morris made a declaration of intention to become an United States citizen on 21 October 1939 in Boston. He stated that he had arrived in the United States on 31 March 1939 aboard the Aurania, traveling from Palestine via Southampton, England to New York City. His name at entry was Mojsze Lejb Tejelbaum. He was 5 ft 9 inches tall, weighed 160 pounds, had a medium complexion, hazel eyes, and black hair. He was a painter and was residing at 47 Goodale Road in Boston at his relative Harry Tatelbaim's house.[1]

On 6 April 1940, Morris and his father Jacob lodged at 691 Morton Street in Boston. Morris was a house painted and his father was a tailor at a garment works.[2]

On 16 October 1940, Morris Louis Tatelbaum registered for the World War II draft while living at 47 Goodale Road in Dorchester, Massachusetts. He stated that his father was Jacob Tatelbaum of the same address. He was employed by Mr. Moldaw. He was 5 ft 9 inche stall, weighed 160 pounds, had hazel eyes, black hair, and a light brown complexion.[3]

He enlisted as a Private in the United States Army on 8 January 1942 at Fort Devens, Massachusetts.[4]

On 8 December 1942, Morris Louis Tatelbaum filed another Petition for Naturalization. On this document he stated that he was divorced from Hanna and had no children. He was a Private First Class in the 3rd Ordinance Service Company at Fort Belvoir, Virginia.[5]

Morris served as a Staff Sergeant in the 2571st Service Command Unit during World War II.

Morris was buried in the Custom Tailors Cemetery in West Roxbury, Suffolk County, Massachusetts.[6]
