Angus 'M'Connell Vic Angus' Macdonald was born illegitimately. He was the son of Donald Macdonald, 8th of Glengary and Morar and Helen Grant. A contract for the marriage of Angus 'M'Connell Vic Angus' Macdonald and Katherine Mackintosh was signed on 24 April 1590. He died before 17 March 1607 at Kyleskin, Isle of Skye, Scotland, killed by the Mackenzies. On 15 April 1594 he was legitimated under Privy Seal.

Thus it agrees he was not son to Alexander Baronet McConnell. However the Peerage then says he was son to Helen Grant which is obviously erroneous as he was illegitimate. It is further in error as the contract of 24 April 1590 clearly names Margaret MackIntosh as the future wife of Angus. See National Records of Scotland GD176/153. Her sister Katherine married Donald MacDonald of Glengarry as his third wife and thus Mackintosh-644 should be merged with MacIntosh-92. I find The Peerage a very unreliable secondary source.
Angus was betrothed to Margaret MacIntosh in April 1590 while they were still children at that time he was less than 15 but probably older than 5.
