Carl was born 2 october 1781 to Herr Magister Anders Friman and his wife Margareta Brisman in Nolgården Bredsäter.[1] His father died early, in 1792, so he lived with his widowed mother.[2]
The muster clerk C. Friman married Chr. Fröding 24 April 1811.[3][4] They lived in Varnhem.[5] Carl Friman and the five youngest sons, Carl Johan, Wilhelm, Adolph, Herrman and Otto, went to North America in 1838. His wife did not go, and son Per Magnus had already flewn the nest.[6]
Carl Friman returned to Sweden the following year, together with an ailing son. A letter from him, enclosing two letters from son Carl Johan, was published in Aftonbladet in April 1842.[7]
When Carl Friman died 19 April 1862, he and his wife lived in the household of their son Per Magnus in Hällum.[8]
