Frances Ann Gumm was born about 1842; she was the daughter of Jacob Gum and Elsie B. Flippin.[1]

Ann Gum (age 7, born Kentucky) was living in Monroe County, Kentucky in the household of her father, Jacob Gum (age 30, born Kentucky), with her mother, Eliza Gum (age 27, born Kentucky), with her Gum siblings, born Kentucky (age, sex): i) Zerarah (6, F), ii) Sarah (4, F), iii) Arcena (0, F). Jacob's occupation was a farmer.

Frances Gumm's family moved from Kentucky to Grayson County, Texas. The estimated date of their move is based on the 1870 federal census for Frances' father, Jacob Gum, and family that records the birthplaces of their children, which includes that Frances' sister, Susan B. Gum, was born in Kentucky about 1856, and that Frances' brother, Isaac J. Gum, was born in Texas about 1858.

Frances Ann Gumm married Anthony Hestand.
In 1870,[6]
Frances A. Hastings [sic] (age 28) was living in Grayson County, Texas in the household of her husband, A. M. Hastings [sic] (age 35, born Kentucky), with their Hastings [sic] children, born Texas (age, sex): i) Jacob K. (10, M), ii) James C. (7, M), iii) William T. (5, M). Anthony's occupation was a farmer; he owned real estate valued at $510 and personal estate at $400.
Frances Ann (Gumm) Hestand died in Mar 1873, and she was buried in the Akers Cemetery, Sherman, Grayson County, Texas, USA.[7]
