Robert was born 11 July 1853. ^[1] He was the son of Robert Orr and Mary Anne Graham of Cavanreagh, Ballynascreen, County Londonderry.

His father moved to Pennsylvania in 1863 , leaving the family behind in Cavanreagh, in order to earn money to send home. His father never returned to Ireland it seems; instead, the younger Robert decided to follow to Pennsylvania as well.

He intially came to Braddock, Pennsylvania; where on 26 March 1891 he married Miss Jennie Kuhn , a 27-year-old Indiana native living in Pittsburgh, and they had seven children. ^{[2] [3]}

By 1900 they had resettled to a farm in South Mahoning, Indiana county, PA -- a rural locality some distance outside of Pittsburgh. ^[2]

He passed away due to influenza on 8 March 1923 at South Mahoning and was buried at Beracha United Presbyterian Church, Plumville; which he had been a member of. ^[1] The surviving children were: George, John and Joseph at home; Mrs. George Jamieson of Plumville, and Robert L. Orr of Plumville. ^[2]

According to The Graham Letters Appendix 1, Robert's niece Eliza Jane (Orr) Graham (1883-abt.1973)'s records included a note that her uncle Robert had died 8 March 1923 at Pittsburgh -- confirming the linked parents as belonging to the other records cited here.
