Biography

Elizabeth “Betsy” Warren Stoutamire, 96, widow of Frank H. Stoutamire, passed away July 16, 2016. Born in , Rhode Island on January 2, 1920; she grew up in Ashland, Massachusetts. Betsy served as a physical therapist in the Army during WWII. While stationed at Fort Bragg, she met and married her husband, Frank. They moved to Tallahassee in 1949. Mrs. Stoutamire spent her (civilian) career as a physical therapist, working with Dr. Hutchinson. She volunteered with the Museum of Florida History well into her late eighties where she was instrumental in the exhibit on World War II. Betsy was a talented gardener, avid bird watcher and loved to travel. She had a passion for genealogy. She enjoyed reading, often times multiple books on WWII at once. Mrs. Stoutamire is preceded in death by her husband, Frank H. Stoutamire; and her daughter-in-law, Francie Stoutamire. She is survived by her children, Jim Stoutamire and Beth Bloomquist (Deni); grandchildren, Bergen Bloomquist (Wendy) and William Stoutamire; great-grandchildren, Brynn and Luke Bloomquist; sisters, Anne Richards and Cathy Chapman; nieces, Gayle Vickers Watts and Leslie Wilson. A visitation will be held Monday, July 25, 2016 from Ten o’clock until the start of service. The service will follow at Eleven o’clock at Bevis Funeral Home, 2710 N. Monroe Street, Tallahassee, Florida, 32303. The committal service will be held immediately following at Roselawn Cemetery.
