Biography

Levi was born in 1825. Based on the 1850 census, Yalobusha County, Mississippi, he is the inferred son of Green Lee and Sarah Unknown.^[1] He married Laura Willie Hunter in 1852, Yalobusha County, Mississippi. ^[2] Levi died in 1883. ^[3]

Research Notes

There is a discrepency in the records regarding where Levi was born and who his parents are. "L.C. Lee" is enumerated on the federal census with inferred parents Green and Sarah in 1850--that record indicates Levi was born in Alabama. All subsequent records indicate Tennessee. Earliest records and records where information is supplied by parents tend to be the most accurate. However, the weight of the authority seems to be in favor of Tennessee. Green and Sarah were from South Carolina and North Carolina respectively and may have moved around some.

Other genealolgies indicate Levi's parents were Henry Lee and Rebecca Sutton, but no sources are cited. Additional research is needed.
