Biography

John married Nancy Stuart (1837-1923) and moved with their children to Gloucester, Massachusetts, where he worked as a fisherman. His wife is listed as the head of the family in 1870.[1] He was reportedly killed three years later during the Colfax massacre, but documentation is lacking. He may have been lost at sea, or abandoned his family about 1870.
