When Mavis Imogene Hermer was born on 16 March 1924, in Parke, Indiana, United States, her father, Henry Charles Hermer, was 49 and her mother, Alta Mable Phillips, was 41. She married Lester Otis McHargue on 18 December 1943, in Parke, Indiana, United States. They were the parents of at least 1 son. She lived in Fayette Township, Vigo, Indiana, United States in 1930 and Wabash Township, Parke, Indiana, United States in 1940.

Obituary

Mavis Imogene McHargue, 91, of Port St. Lucie, Fla., and formerly of Greencastle, passed away on Thursday, July 23, 2015.

She was born on March 16, 1924 in Rockville to Charles Hermer and Alta Phillips Hermer.

Mavis married Lester O. McHargue on Dec. 18, 1943, and he preceded her in death on Oct. 26, 1996.

She was also preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and three sisters.

Mavis was a member of Hanna Street Baptist Church and had been a nurse's aide at Putnam County Hospital.

Surviving are her son, Lance McHargue and wife Hazel of Port St. Lucie, Fla.; three grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Elsie Littrell; nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday, July 31 at Forest Hill Cemetery, Greencastle, with Pastor Patrick Smith officiating.
