Designed many pre-WW2 HP aircraft
Gustav Lachmann replaced Volkert and designed the HP52 Hampden and the HP Halifax bombers. His most successful design was the Handley Page Halifax with the final model being at least as good as the Lancaster by 1945.
He and his wife had a son and daughter - pre-war - Alan Charles (born in 1937) and a daughter Jane (born in 1938)
George died in 1978.
