John was born about 1796.

John was a merchant in Quebec when he married Mary, daughter of Alexander Montgomery of Killead on 17 March 1837 in Ireland. ^[1]

In 1842 John was a ship chandler in the Notre Dame district of Quebec.^[2]

He passed away on 2 September 1859 at Quebec.^[3]
