Biography

Joseph John Bennett was probably born in New York in about 1831^[1].

He migrated to Australia.

He married Jane Davis at the Monmouth Bakery at 123 Main Road Ballarat on the 30th of July, 1870^[1]. Jane and John had about five children:

• Joseph John Bennett (1871, born Kilmore)
• Davidson Bennett (1872, born Ballarat)
• William John Bennett (1873, born Mt Prospect)
• Sarah Jane Bennet (1875, born "Bull")
• Rose Bennett, later Rose Pearson. Note that there is no birth record for Rose but her existence is confirmed through the death records of John as well as the probate of his wife

He died on the 21st of March, 1896 in Strathfieldsaye^[2][3]. His death was the subject of a coroner's inquiry; his daughter Rose Pearson was one of the informants^[4].
