In 1910 he and 3 brothers lived with Nicholas, his stepfather and two sisters (by father-in-law) in Chicago. Nicholas was a switchman for the railroad. [2]
In his 1917 draft registration, he worked for the NY Central railroad in Indiana.
In 1920 He, 2 stepsisters, mother and stepfather lived in Chicago. Nicholas was a yard master for the railroad and James also worked for the railroad in a weighing function. [3]
