Richard Smith was a Citizen and Dyer of London who lived in the parish of St Mary Islington (episcopal area of Stepney) in Middlesex in the 17th century.
He married a lady named Elizabeth Lambourne in Clerkenwell, on 1 January 1645, [1]with whom he had three daughters:
Richard signed his will on 24 October 1671 and died, probably at his home at St Mary's Islington, Middlesex, London, most likely, early in December 1672. Probate took place on 17 January 1673.[3]
In his will, he requested to be buried at St Mary's Islington, near where his daughter Elizabeth was buried, and made his wife, Elizabeth joint executor of his will, with his daughter Jane Smith. He left property to his wife Elizabeth (tenements in Islington) for the duration of her life, to his daughter Jane, and the heirs of her body lawfully begotten, and for want of such issue, to the children of Mary, his 'daughter Chamberlaine', whom he named. [3]
His sons-in-law Thomas Shawe and Francis Chamberlaine he named as supervisors or overseers of his will, and gave them forty shillings apiece to buy mourning rings. Probate took place on 17 January 1673. [3]
