Biography

Gerhardus Antonius Swiebertus Dericks is gerelateerd aan Nederland.

Gerhardus was born in 1787. He was the son of Johan Dericks and Maria Stüsgen. He passed away in 1834.

Dericks was appointed in 1816, at the age of 29, as a civil-law notary based in Varsseveld. He will have been trained for that office by his father, who had been a notary in Terborg since 1811. Nine years later, in 1825, the then 76-year-old interim bailiff Jan Hendrik Deurvorst resigned. It was decided that civil-law notary Dericks could add the mayoral office, and so it happened. There are no details of Dericks' nine-year tenure as mayor. He died in 1834, only 47 years old. He was succeeded as notary by the grandson of Jan Hendrik Deurvorst and as mayor by Jan Mackay .
