Lewis was born in 1887, Robbinston, Maine, the son of Vinal Brown and Hannah Fader. He was also known as Louis Alirius Melvin Brown, and Lewis Alzeril Melvin Brown.

He passed away in 1967. BURIAL Mount Hope Cemetery, Boston, Suffolk County, Massachusetts, USA.

Lewis aka Louis Brown married first to Daisy M Williams, in 1909. With Daisy he had three children. Daisy died in 1976.
