John was born in 1888. He passed away in 1930.

John Joseph was born on 26 February 1888 in County Cork, Ireland^[1].

At the time of the 1901 Census^[2] , John was a 13 year old student who could read and write. John could also speak Irish and English.

At the time of the 1911 Census^[3] , John was employed as a Clerk Bakery.

John was 29 years old when he married Elizabeth Sharkey on 30 May 1917^[4] . Elizabeth “Lilly” was born on 17 February 1886 in Cork. Not long after the couple married, they moved to Australia (exact date unknown). The couple raised a family of six children: Denis (1920), Thomas (1924), Elizabeth (unknown), William (unknown), John (unknown) and James (1930). Unfortunately, John died on 11 April 1930, prior to James’ birth. Lilly died on 21 December 1982 at the aged care home of the Little Sisters of the Poor in Northcote, Melbourne.
