Biography

James William Campbell was born at the Cape of Good Hope, Africa on 29 Nov 1857 the second child and second son of James Campbell, a mason and Mary Worth[1].

By 1871 his father was dead and the surviving Campbell family, James, his brother John and mother Mary Ann had moved to Canada, settling in the town of Toronto East in Ontario.

In the 1871 census James (age 16), Apprentice, was in St Davids Ward, Toronto East, Ontario.[2]
