Joseph Parry was born in Wrexham, Denbighshire, Wales.

Joseph Parry was born in 1878 in Wrexham, Denbighshire, Wales, United Kingdom, son of Charles Parry (~1834–1890) and Mary Jones (~1843– ).[1]

In 1881 Joseph was living in household of Charles Parry (49) in Wrexham Regis in Wrexham registration district in Denbighshire, Wales. Born in Wrexham, Denbighshire. [2]

In the 1891 census Joseph (age 13) was the son of Mary Parry in Wrexham Regis, Denbighshire, Wales.[3]

In the 1901 census Joseph (age 22), Gas Stoker, was the single brother-in-law of Alfred Markham in Wrexham Regis, Denbighshire, Wales.[4]

In the 1911 census Joseph (age 32), Labourer Coke Ovens, was the single boarder of John Williams in Bersham, Denbighshire, Wales.[5]

Joseph Parry is a Military Veteran.
Served in the British Army, Royal Engineers 1915-1919 during the Great War.

Joseph, aged 35 and 10 months, was living at 12 Bank Street, Southsea, near Wrexham and working for Brymbo Steel Works when he enlisted with the Royal Engineers on 8th April 1915 to play his part in the Great War. At the start of his recruitment he was single and named his youngest sister Rebecca (Mrs Walker) of 59 Brewery Street, Birmingham as his next of kin. [6] His brother, James had enlisted a few days before. They both drove steam engines and therefore qualified to become Sappers with the Royal Engineers.

According to a Qualification Report, Sapper Joseph Parry, Service no. 283659 of the 124th Field Company Royal Engineers was skilled at firing, driving and repairing stationary and self propelled steam vehicles and driving and repairing gas and oil stationary engines. He was also proficient with firing and driving duties including knowledge of railway working and regulations. [6]

At the age 38 Joseph, son of Charles Parry (deceased), married Gertrude Donne, daughter of William James Donne, retired Wagon Examiner, on 22 April 1916 in Brymbo, Denbighshire, Wales. Joseph was based at Park House Camp, Buseton and Gertrude was living at 56 Penbryn at the time of their marriage.[6] [7]

On the 9th May 1916, less than three weeks later, Joseph embarked to France with the British Expeditionary Force. He survived the war and was demobilised on the 26 Mar 1919 to return home to Gertrude at 53 Pen y Bryn, Wrexham, North Wales[6]

In the 1939 register Joseph (age 61), Steelworks Labourer (Heavy Work??), was the married head of household at 53, Wrexham, Denbighshire, Wales.[8]

Joseph (age 74) was buried on 6 March 1953 in Brymbo, Denbighshire, Wales.[9]

Joseph was mentioned on a memorial in Wrexham Cemetery, Wrexham, Wrexham, Wales with a death date of 3 March 1953.[10]
