Biography

William was born in 1912 in Canning Town, Essex. He was the son of Stanford Peters and Daisy Hawkes.^[1]

He followed his father (and maternal grandfather) in becoming a lighterman, piloting flat-bottomed barges on the Thames.

In Q1 1937 he married Mary M Brown, the daughter of a Brown and a Stuart.^[2] They had at least one son:^[3]

The family moved to Dagenham around 1950.

He passed away in 1995.^[4]
