Biography

Lawrence William Adamson, son of Lawrence Adamson, was born in Dublin in July 1829.^[1]

In 1851 Lawrence is recorded on the Census return as living in Conchan in the Isle of Man where his trade was said to be "advocate's articled clerk". He was living with his parents at this time.^[2]

In 1861 Lawrence is recorded as married, but living on his own, in Onchan in the Isle of Man where he served as Advocate.^[3]

Lawrence was a widower when he married Sarah Frances Swan, youngest daughter of William Swan of Walker, Newcastle upon Tyne, in 1889.^[4]

Lawrence served as JP for Northumberland and County Durham.^[4] On the 1911 England Census Lawrence's profession is stated to be "Barrister, Retired Manx Bar".^[5]

In 1890 Lawrence was a member of the Union Club in Trafalgar Square and was living at Whitley House in Newcastle-upon-Tyne.^[4]

In 1911 Lawrence and Sarah were staying in Marylebone, London, at the time of the census. Lawrence's son John was recorded on the census return, as well as a number of servants, including two private nurses.^[5]

Lawrence died in November 1911 and was buried at Saint Helen's Churchyard in Longhorsley, Northumberland.^[1]
