Edward is shown on Findagrave as spouse of Gladys Alma Ashley Appleby. Gladys married Donald Hargrave in 1921, her gravestone shows surname Appleby. However, the only marriage for an Edward Ernest Appleby is to Mary Emma Steinke in 1927. The Brisbane Courier 28 June 1927 (see below) shows article for marriage of "Emma and Mr Edward Appleby, second-son of Mr. and Mrs. J. Appleby." Edward's father's name is James. Therefore I believe that Edward and Emma are the correct pair. It is possible that Edward married Gladys after 1948 (records stop at this date).

Edward married Mary Emma Steinke in Queensland, 22 June, 1927[2]

This person was mentioned in the The Brisbane Courier on 28 June 1927 in Queensland, Australia.[3] APPLEBY—STEINKE. The marriage of Mr. Edward Appleby (second-son of Mr. and Mrs. J. Appleby, Pomona) and Miss Mary Steinke (second daughter of Mr. and Mrs, O. Steinke, Skyring's Creek) waa solemnised by the Rev. R. St. George at the Church of the Good Shepherd, Pomona, on June 22.

Edward died on January 12, 1968 in Queensland, aged 66. [4]

Edward was mentioned on a memorial in Nambour Garden Lawn Cemetery, Nambour, Sunshine Coast Council, Queensland, Australia with a death date of 12 January 1968.[5]
