Stewkley was the only son of Sir John Shuckburgh and Abigail Goodwin. He was born 9 March 1711/12.[1]
He became the fourth baronet on the death of his father in 1724.
Sir Stewkley was unmarried and died at Bath 6 March 1759 and was buried at Shuckburgh, Warwickshire, as recorded on his grave inscription.[2]

He was a Steady & Sincere Friend,
A kind and indulgent Master:

A zealous Advocate for the Liberties,
And a Faithful Dispenser of the Laws
Of his Country.
Perpetual Struggles with ill Health
Disabled him from exerting those Social Talents,
which would have indear'd him to Mankind:
But from those Struggles he took occasion to Shew
That hardest duty of a Christian
A Cheerful Submission to the Divine Will.
His retirement was Spent in improving his Mind
And preparing himself for Eternity.
He was exactly regular in the Duties of his Closet
And his behaviour in this house
Was an example of that Seriousness & Fervour,
which become the place of God's publick Worship.
He died at Bath unmarried the 6th of March 1759
Aged 47 Years
He left a will dated 30 November 1756 and proved 3 May 1759.[3] In his will he mentioned
