Isaac, age 23 (about 1838) enlisted on 10 Dec 1861 in the United States Army during the Civil War. He joined Company H, 78th Regiment, Ohio Infantry. [1]

Private Isaac Shughart (aka Schuyhart) served at the Battle of Shiloh and died on 27 May 1862 as a result of disease. He was initially buried in Shiloh Battlefield or a hospital cemetery and later reinterred at Shiloh National Cemetery, plot 1602, section 78th Ohio.[2][3]
