Biography

Mary Lord Hazen was the daughter of Asa Hazen and Mary Morgan.

She married Joseph Kimbrough.^[1]

1850, Roane County, Tennessee. Children were Robert, Joseph, Sarah, Gideon, Rufus, Calvin, Mary, Acy (Asa) and George.^[2]

1860 Census, Roane County, Tennessee. Children were Joseph D, Rufus M, Calvin M, Asa H age 16, Mary M age 17, Martha age 9 and Gideon age 27, merchant.^[3]

Joseph Kimbrough died in 1863. His will provided for the following: Executor to sell land after youngest child, Martha, of age. To dau, Sarah Ann Thomason, $5000. To Robt Kimbrough, use of farming land he now cultivates. To Rufus M Kimbrough and Calvin Kimbrough, provide for their education. Executor to provide for sons' mother and two single sisters. L. L. Thomasson and William Kimbrough to retain negroes already obtained. Estate to provide for sister Sarah S Brown as sufficient funds allow. When children all of age, estate remaining to be divided between son William Kimbrough, Robert Kimbrough, Joseph Kimbrough, Rufus M Kimbrough, Calvin N Kimbrough, Mary M Kimbrough, Asa H Kimbrough, George ? Kimbrough, Martha Kimbrough, and wife Mary L Kimbrough. Executors : sons Gideon H Kimbrough and Joseph Kimbrough. Signed 19 April 1860. Proved Jan 1863 Roane County Court.^[4]

1870 Census: Mary was age 62. Brown S S Kimbrough was age 76. Joseph Kimbrough was age 38. Mary M Kimbrough was age 25. George W Kimbrough was age 22. Mattie Kimbrough was age 18.^[5]
