He lived in Baltimore County, Maryland from 1737 to about 1785, "some f ew years after the end of the Revolution."

He lived in Wilkes County, Georgia from around 1785 to 1788. His Revolutionary War pension application said Wilkes County, South Carolina, bu t that was apparently a mistake. In 1785 Thomas Travis was granted 400 a cres in Wilkes County, Georgia. (Land ak "PPP" p. 134 SecState's Offic e, Atlanta) Thomas Travis also witnessed a deed in WilkesCounty, Georg ia on 12 Jul 1787.

He moved to Washington County in about 1788 and stayed there until abo ut 1798. Washington County was probably Washington County, Virginia th at later became Washington County, North Carolina (1776), then Sulliva n County, North Carolina (1779) and then Sullivan County,Tennessee (17 96).

In 1795 Thomas Travis settled in Green County, Tennessee. His daughter E lizabeth married Alexander Hayes in Greene County, Tennessee in 1799.

In 1799 he moved to Overton County, Tennessee where he has lived upwar ds of 30 years. He lived in the part of the county that became Fentres s County. (Overton Co was not formed until 1806 where we find Andrew a nd Isaac Beaty and my Thomas Scott born July 19, 1755 PG, Maryland)
