Biography
Hadiza Dawaiya was born about 1940/1941, likely in Nigeria.[1]
She met Shehu Shagari while he was working as a visiting teacher in Sokoto province. They married in 1957. She became the First Lady of Nigeria when Shehu was elected president in 1979.[1]
Her husband died in 2018. Hadiza Shagari died from complications of COVID-19 in Abuja, Nigeria, at age 80.[1]
