Biography
The daughter of Allen Dotson Shelton (1865-1946) and Elizabeth Adaline Grimes (1864-1904), Belle Shelton was born in Wayne County, Tennessee[citation needed] in 1889, residing with her family in Civil District 2.[1] Her siblings included:
- Richard Lee Shelton (1884-1891)
- David Edward Shelton (1886-1959)
- William Franklin Shelton (1888-1894)
- Florence Catherine (Shelton) Young (1892-1963)
- Emma Elizabeth (Shelton) Young (1892-1981)
- Nancy Paralee (Shelton) Nowlin (1894-1984)
- Arch McDougall Shelton (1895-1957)
- Claude Nathaniel Shelton (1894-1979)
- Georgia Alice (Shelton) Neill (1899-1984)
Belle married Jackson Franks, his second wife, marrying in Wayne County, Tennessee on January 25,1906[2] and having four known children together:
- James Allen Shelton (1907-1987)
- Nanny Mirl (Franks) Reynolds (1909-1985)
- Donald Edward Franks (1913-1988)
- Catherine (Franks) (Neill) Cloyd (1921-1995)
They made their home in Wayne County's Civil District 2, farming,[3] residing by 1920 in Civil District 3 of Hardin County, Tennessee.[4]
Belle Franks passed away at the age of 36 and is buried at Neill Cemetery in Savannah, Tennessee.[5]
