He was a native of Newport, Tn., and had lived in the North Georgia area and in Chicago for a number of years before moving back to North Georgia in 1974. He was a veteran of World War II and was a very proud member of the 6th Cavalry. Mr. Dyke enjoyed family, gardening, Ford T-Birds and hard work. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Barbara Nester, eight brothers, and a sister. He is survived by his loving wife, Evelyn Dyke; daughter, Carolyn (David) Tindell, of Rossville; sons, Jack Dyke, of Atlanta, and Jim (Angie) Dyke, of Las Vegas; grandchildren, David and Chad Tindell, Jeremy and Ashley Dyke; and one great-granddaughter, Caroline. Funeral services will be at 9 a.m. Friday in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Michael Morton officiating. Interment will be in Chattanooga National Cemetery. Condolences may be sent at www.heritagefh.com. His family will receive friends from 2-8 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday at Heritage Funeral Home & Crematory, Battlefield Parkway.
