Biography

Walter was born in 1907. His parents were John Alan Hamilton and Rose Ann Harrington. It appears that John Alan was born in Huron Ontario and moved to Manitoba, met his wife and started a family ^[1]

Walter's mother died in 1915. The 1916 census shows Walter and two of his siblings resided in a children's shelter in Winnipeg ^[2] and others sent to live with other families. At some point, it appears that all of the siblings moved to Ontario. The father, John remarried and started another family. None of the children are living with him or his new wife in the 1926 Prairie census.

Walter married Stella Alviria Cosens in 1930, They had eieven children and raised them in Ontario.

He passed away in 1982. ^[3]

Four children of Walter and Stella are still living (December 15, 2023) Jean Hamilton Pettitt, Allen Hamilton, Marion Hamilton Bristowe and Larry Hamilton.
