He may have been the "Orrin McIntire", laborer, who lived at a hotel in Boston, Massachusetts, at the time of the 1860 census. If so, he was born in Massachusetts.[1]
He was a 37 year old clerk and resident of Somerville, Massachusetts, when he enlisted to serve in the Civil War, on 11 August 1861. He mustered in as a private in Company H of the 18th Mass. Infantry.[2] He was killed in action at the Battle of Shepherdstown on 20 September 1862.[3]
In 1890, his step-mother Clara H. McIntire received a pension in his name.[4]
