Biography

Llywelyn Ddu was the son of Dafydd ap Gruffud,^[1] baron of Cymmer.^[2]

His mother is recorded as either Gwerful ferch Maredudd Fyxhan of Main^[1] or Anesta, daughter of Madog, baron of Main.^[2]

He became baron of Cymmer^[2] and was living in 1343.^[1]

His wife is recorded as Annes ferch Ieuan,^[1] the widow of Thomas ap Dafydd, baron of Hendwr.^[2] He is also said to have had another wife, Gwenllian ferch Llywelyn.^[1]

His children are recorded as:
