Biography

married (1) Nathaniel Seabury

married (2) John Jeffrey

married (3) Samuel Gore

Michel was born about 1720, probably in Groton, Connecticut. Michel died February 5, 1795 and is buried in the Silver Street Cemetary, Coventry, Connecticut.

She married first Nathaniel Seabury, second John Jeffrey, and third Samuel Goer (standard spelling seems to be Gore.)

Here is the inscription from her grave stone:

Mrs. Michel Wife of Samuel Goer of Voluntown died February 5, 1795 in ye 75 th year of her age. Coventry, Connecticut.

Both old and young must die we see The sting of death No one can flee.

There are three gravestones which are reasonably close together in the cemetary: Mary Jeffery Wright, Michel Goer, and Briggs, son of Nathaniel Jeffers. Sometimes proximity in the cemetery means relationship in life. [1]

Much of Groton, Connecticut, USA was burned by the British during the American Revolution (1780's). Some of the Groton records were destroyed. Her home was burned out at this time. [2]
