Biography

Ada was born in 1935. She was the daughter of Claude Jones and Zella Boggs. She passed away in 2003.

Ada (nee Jones) Blachly December 21, 1935 - February 16, 2003

Ada J Blachly, 87, passed from this earth to her heavenly home early Thursday morning, February 16, 2023. She was a resident of Astral Senior Living in Franklin, Indiana.

She was born on December 21st, 1935, in Cincinnati, Ohio, to Claude and Zella (Boggs) Jones. Ada married David Blachly on June 17, 1961; they were married 52 years before he passed away on March 26, 2013. Ada graduated with a degree in nursing from Eastern Nazarene College and served alongside her husband as a medical missionary in South Africa for 15 years. On their return to the US, they settled in Hershey, PA where she worked as a nurse. She has been a lifelong member of the Nazarene Church and was currently active in the Franklin Church.

Her passions in life included her faith, her family, and her dedication to missions.

She was a homemaker who shared her gift of hospitality with her children and grandchildren. She took pleasure in preparing food for others, including funeral and community meals. She also enjoyed sewing, cross-stitching and reading.

She is survived by her children, Joel (Lynn) Blachly, Mark (Liz) Blachly, Keith Blachly, and Janet (David) Leeder; grandchildren, Ben, Abby and Bethany Blachly and Victoria Leeder. Also surviving is a brother, Jim (Carol) Jones and brother-in-law, Dan Thew. She was preceded in passing by her parents-Claude and Zella, husband-David, stepmother-Dorothy Jones and sister-Phyllis Thew.

A Memorial Celebration of Ada's life will take place on Saturday February 25, 2023 at 4:00 pm at Franklin Church of the Nazarene, 140 Branigin Road, conducted by Pastor Max Downs and Rev David Leeder (son-in-law) with visitation on Saturday February 25 from 2:00pm to 4:00pm at the church. Flinn and Maguire Funeral Home in Franklin is assisting the family with the arrangements. Inurnment of Ashes will be in Hershey, PA at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Franklin Church of the Nazarene, 140 Branigin Road, Franklin, Indiana 46131.

The family is grateful to the nurses and staff at Astral Senior Living for their kindness and compassionate care for Ada and her family.
