Biography

The presumed son of Charles Johnson and Esta Cunningham, Cecil Johnson was born in Weona, Arkansas^{[citation needed]} in 1926. In 1940, he lived with his grandmother, Ruth Pyles, residing in Jonesboro, Arkansas.^[1]

Cecil registered for the World War II draft when he was 18, registering in Jonesboro, Arkansas on August 15, 1944.^[2] He stated that he lived at 527 North Main Street in Jonesboro and that he worked for H. J. Kimbro at the Liberty Theater in Jonesboro. Cecil was described as 5'0" tall and 121 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. He did not enlist.

Cecil married Leatha Leona Ferree (1932-1999), the daughter of Charles Olney Ferree and Gladys Mae Langley, marrying in St. Joseph County, Indiana on September 25, 1950.^[3] The marriage ended in divorce and Cecil remarried, marrying Cornelia Gency (Gallion) Johnson, marrying around 1957 ^{[citation needed]} and making their home in Mountain Home, Arkansas.^{[citation needed]}

Widowed in 2000,^[4] Cecil Johnson passed away in Mountain Home, Arkansas^[5] at the age of 83^[6] and is buried with his second wife and her family at Gibson Cemetery in Craighead, Arkansas.^[7]
