Captain John Washington Middleton was born 3 Jan 1808 in Maury County, Tennessee.[1] He was a commander in the early Texas Rangers from July 1839 to August 1839 [2] He was a Deputy Sheriff and a leader of the Regulators in the Regulator Moderator War.[3]. His book, Regulators and Moderators and the Shelby County War in 1841 and 1842, in the Republic of Texas was published in 1883[4] He died about 1898 in Hood County, Texas.[5]
