This obituary is from the Saturday, September 29, 2012 edition of the Press Enterprise. Reta E. Davis Woman enjoyed time with family, friends Reta E. Davis, 91, concluded her journey in this life on Thursday evening, Sept. 27, 2012, at Columbia-Montour Hospice, Maria Hall. She had been a resident of Vintage Knolls for six years and Emmanuel Nursing Center for five months. Reta was born Oct. 22, 1920, in Beaver Township, a daughter of John and Sara Davis. She spent 53 years in the Harrisburg area working as an administrative assistant for the Bureau of Workmen's Compensation. She enjoyed bowling, doing counted cross-stitch, crossword puzzles, traveling and spending time with her family and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Blanche Beaver and Nina Shuman; a brother, Luther Davis; a niece, Joan Martenas; and nephews John Beaver and James Shuman. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Surviving are her sister-in-law, Dorothy Davis; nieces: Marie Hons, Alice Fritz and Betty Tretter of the Bloomsburg area; Donna Uldriks, Henderson, Nev.; Jane Troy, Catawissa; Karen Wendorf, Hollywood, S.C.; and nephews: Rollin Beaver, Tucson, Ariz.; Ken Shuman, Hammond, La.; and Dan Davis, Zion Grove. A memorial service celebrating her life will be held at a later date with burial at Davis Chapel Cemetery, Zion Grove, Pa. Contributions in her memory may be made to Columbia-Montour Home Hospice, 410 Glenn Ave., Suite 200, Bloomsburg, Pa. 17815.
