Biography

George Murdock BLACK was born somewhere in 1841 ^[1].

Vocation - reported to be a journalist; need to look for this

He became attached to Helen Rosaland LODGE and fathered 3 children with her, the first when she was 17 years old:

1. Frederick John, b 1871 at Melbourne VIC, d 1917 at New Zealand
2. Mary Murdock, b 1873 at Bendigo VIC, d 1873 at Bendigo VIC
3. Rachel Helen (MORRAH), b 1875 at Clunes VIC, d 1968 in Wellington New Zealand

The couple were together until George died. His wife Helen was left in NZ with 2 children aged 6 and 3. She quickly remarried (to James Edwards) in 1878.

George died in New Zealand in 1877, aged 36 years ^[2] .

There is a George Murdock BLACK born at Wollongong NSW in 1854 ^[3]. His parents were Charles S BLACK, and Fanny No-name, and he was the eldest of their 2 children (other being Fanny Black b 1856). Dude above would have been 17 at birth of first child; I can't see it.
