Biography
Thomas Kirkpatrick was born about 1630 [citation needed]. He was the son of Robert Kirkpatrick, third son of Sir Thomas Kirkpatrick, and Grizzel Baillie, daughter of Sir William Baillie of Lamington and Grizzel daughter of Sir Claude Hamilton of Elieston.
Sir Thomas Kirkpatrick, the 1st Baronet of Closeburn, married three times:
- 25 April 1666: the Honorable Isabel Sandilands, daughter of John Lord Torphichen, descended from Sir James Sandilands, who married Joan the daughter of King Robert the Second.
- 7 December 1672: Sarah, daughter of Robert Fergusson of Craigdarroch.
- In 1686: Grizzel, daughter of Gavin Hamilton of Raploch, and widow of Inglis of Murdistown, by her he had no issue.
He passed away about 1700. His eldest son, Sir Thomas, 2nd Baronet of Closeburn, succeeded him in 1700.
