Biography

The son of Samuel Noble Lougee (1800-1884) and Elizabeth Nutter (1802-1854), Samuel Lougee was born in Barnstead, New Hampshire[citation needed] in 1830, residing there with his family, farming.[1] His mother died in 1854 and his father remarried, marrying Sarah Goodhue (1806-1898). Samuel later moved with his family to Minnesota, settling in Rice County, farming.[2] His siblings included:

  1. Hannah Nutter Lougee (1826-1910)
  2. Rebecca Lougee (1828-1857)
  3. Charles Deverett Lougee (1832-1921)
  4. Elizabeth Nutter Lougee (1834-1914)

Samuel married Cordelia Lydia (Recor) Lougee, marrying in Rice County, Minnesota on December 10, 1860[3] and having five known children together:

  1. Franklin Everett Lougee (1863-1864)
  2. Harriet Annette Lougee (1865-1866)
  3. Corinne E. "Carrie Lougee (1868-1950)
  4. Alice L. (Lougee) Peasley (1873-1954)
  5. Gertrude E. (Lougee) Merritt (1885-1965)

They made their home together in Faribault, Minnesota, farming.[4][5]

Samuel Faribault passed away in Faribault, Minnesota[6] at the age of 62 and is buried at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Faribault.[7]
