Biography

Jonathan Morehouse was born 9 March 1708.^[1][2][3] He was baptized on 14 March 1708 in Stratfield, Fairfield County, Connecticut.^[1][2] He was the son of Jonathan Morehouse and Rebecca Hull.^[1][3]

Stratfield versus Bridgeport

The name Stratfield was first used about 1701 to describe an area between the towns of Stratford, Connecticut and Fairfield, Connecticut. Then in 1801, much of Stratfield became chartered as the borough of Bridgeport. Eventually in 1836 Bridgeport was chartered as a city.

This explains why some of the source documents for this profile refer to Stratfield and at least one document uses the modern name Bridgeport.
