Biography

William was born in 1838[1]. He was the second son of James Bundey and his wife Harriett née Lockyer.

In the England and Wales Census of 1841 he was living with his parents and three siblings James, Harriet and Charlotte, as well as two other individuals, at Exbury & Lepe, Hampshire, England. He was aged 3.[2]

At the age of 10 William and his family emigrated from England to South Australia, Australia on the "David Malcom" departing London via Plymouth on 27 December 1848 and arriving on 7 April 1849. Sadly his father died a few weeks after their arrival.

After he had completed his education he went to work in a solicitor's office, and having served his articles was admitted to the Bar in 1865.

He married Ellen Wardlaw Milne on 28 March 1865 in "Sunnyside", North Adelaide, South Australia.

They had one daughter.

He was an Australian politician and judge, and Attorney-General of South Australia from 27 September 1878 to 10 March 1881.

He passed away in 1909 at his home at Mount Lofty in South Australia after many years of poor health, and was buried at North Road Cemetery, Nailsworth, Prospect City, South Australia, Australia[3].

An extensive Obituary was published in The Advertiser (Adelaide, SA : 1889 - 1931) on Tuesday, 7 December 1909, Page 9[4].
