Biography

Ann (Main) Walker was born in Scotland.

Ann Main daughter of Joseph Main and Margaret Craig, was born on 30 September 1843 in Fetteresso, Kincardine, Scotland.^[1]

Ann (19) married William Robertson Walker (22) (born in Slains, Aberdeenshire, Scotland; son of George Walker and Isabella McKenzie) on 30 May 1868 in Torry Village, Nigg, Aberdeenshire. ^[2]

Together Ann and William had at least 5 known children:

there could be another child, Andrew, born 1888 as he appears on a census, however he could also be a grandson rather than a son, maybe?

After Ann's husband William died at sea in 1887, she remarried again in Dundee on the 31st August 1900 to John Dewar, he was a widower aged 70 at the time., she was aged 55, a widow.

Ann died on the 11 May 1909, her address at the time was St Marys' Street, Dundee, Angus, Scotland, she was said to be a widow, 1st of Wiliam Robertson Walker and then John Dewar, her parents were given as Joseph Main (fisherman) and Margaret Craid (both deceased) .. the registrant was her son "Robert Walker" who address was given as present, which ususally mens the same address

In the 1881 census Ann (age 33) was the wife of William Walker in Montrose Cottage, Nigg, Kincardineshire.^[9] Household: William Walker 46, wife Ann Main Walker 33, daughter Hellen Walker 12, daughter Ann Walker 10, son William Walker 4, son Robert Walker 2.

Research Notes

ref son Robert (1879) no birth can be found, he is on the 1881 and 1891 census as age 2 and 12 respectively, and he was the registrant for his mothers death. However it's possible he went into the military as 2 sources were found, dated 1896, for a "possible" Robert born in Nigg in 1877 which could still be him he may have lied about his age to enlist.
