there could be another child, Andrew, born 1888 as he appears on a census, however he could also be a grandson rather than a son, maybe?
After Ann's husband William died at sea in 1887, she remarried again in Dundee on the 31st August 1900 to John Dewar, he was a widower aged 70 at the time., she was aged 55, a widow.

Research Notes
ref son Robert (1879) no birth can be found, he is on the 1881 and 1891 census as age 2 and 12 respectively, and he was the registrant for his mothers death. However it's possible he went into the military as 2 sources were found, dated 1896, for a "possible" Robert born in Nigg in 1877 which could still be him he may have lied about his age to enlist.
ref the gap in the censuses, both of Ann's marriage certs, and her death registration have been seen which confirm her parents, spouses, and son Robert

Sadly I have very little information on Ann WALKER nee MAIN (Main-759) I am very sure she was in Scotland getting married in 1868 at have found no links to USA at this stage.. Will keep an eye out on that link in future research around Ann
Ann is from the "Fisherfolk" people and was indeed born in Scotland. Fetteresso, Kincardineshire to be precise.. however the Mains, Craigs and Christies from this area are quite tricky to work out, but I think I managed to find her as all her certs have been seen to confirm her actual family
