Eveline Hilda Mogg lived most of her life in the Midlands region of England[1] (specifically Redditch, Kings Norton, and Birmingham). The daughter of a needle maker, she married later in life, and had no known children.
Eveline Hilda Mogg was born in the town of Bromsgrove in Worcestershire, England, UK, in the Jan-Feb-Mar quarter of 1880. [2] Her parents were Joseph John Richard Mogg and Sarah Elizabeth Mogg, formerly Heaven. She was christened in St. Stephen’s parish in Redditch, Worcestershire on 24 March 1880. [3]

At the time of the 1881 England and Wales census,[4] the Mogg family was living on Prospect Road in Kings Norton, Worcestershire. Eveline’s father, Joseph J. R. Mogg, was described as age 32 and a needle manufacturer. His wife, Sarah E Mogg, was 35. Eveline’s older brother, John, was 2 years old, and Eveline was 1. Her birthplace was recorded as Redditch, Worcestershire, although at the time her birth was registered, Bromsgrove was the birthplace noted. Also living with the family was George Heaven, Joseph’s 64 year-old father-in-law; his 13 year-old niece, Sarah H. Heaven; and two young female servants with the last name Heath.

Eveline’s father, Joseph, died in 1905[7], and left effects of £9965 19s. 8d. to his widow, Sarah, and his two older children, Eveline and John Leslie.
At the time of the 1911 census[8], Eveline was visiting with the family of Jesse Hind, a widowed solicitor in Edwalton, Nottinghamshire, England, UK. Included in the household were a number of servants and two of Mr. Hind's adult children, Edith May Hind, 40, and Oliver Watts Hind, 37, also a solicitor.
In 1911, Eveline traveled by ship to New York, New York, via Canada [9] [10]. Each of the travel records also includes Edith and Oliver Hind, so it is possible that her visit to their home in Edwalton earlier in the year was related to plans or preparations for a joint travel adventure with the Hind siblings. Eveline, Edith, and Oliver were each listed on ships' manifests as single, and indicated they were touring with a final destination of New York. The two Hind siblings gave their father Jesse Hind, as a home contact in Nottinghamshire, and Eveline named her mother, Sarah Mogg, residing in Moseley, Birmingham.
On 1 March 1927, Eveline’s mother, Sarah died at the Mogg home, Corryn on Wake Green Road in Mosley, Birmingham, UK. [11] Probate was granted in Birmingham 21 June 1927. Sarah left effects of £42335 5s. 8d. to her three children, “… John Leslie Heaven Mogg, gentleman, and Eveline Hilda Mogg and Mary Winifred Mogg, spinsters”.
Eveline married an older widower, Horatio Charles William Wood (b. 1872) in 1931. [12] She was 51 years old at the time of this marriage, and the couple had no children. Their marriage was short-lived, because Horatio died in 1934 at age 62. [13]
At the time of the 1939 England and Wales registration, Eveline was living with her siblings at 45 Wake Green Road in Birmingham as a “semi-invalid”.[14] John and Mary were listed as single, with John’s occupation given as MA Cambridge Retired Exhibition [illeg, possibly Organiser?]; Mary was doing unpaid domestic duties. The household listed three servants.
